Using sliders for scaled questions

Engaging participants with interactive sliders

Sliders are a dynamic way to collect numerical responses or responses on a scale. You can set the minimum and maximum values, and the interval size, to define the value between answer options. Here are some examples of when to use sliders for questions.

 

How many hours do you work per day? 

Min value: 0

Interval: 1
Max value: 20
Options available 

to respondents:
1, 2, 3 ... 19, 20

 

How are you feeling? 

1 = terrible, 5 = great
Min value: 1

Interval: 1
Max value: 5
Options available 

to respondents:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5

 

What percentage of the photos on your phone are selfies?
Min value: 0

Interval: 25
Max value: 100
Options available 

to respondents:
0, 25, 50, 75, 100
